The gym had just been refinished at our church building and the fumes were really bad so the stake cancelled church. We ended up having the blessing at the Crandall's house instead since my family came up for the blessing that weekend. This is a great description that our good friend, Cassie Larsen, wrote for us:
A sunny rain drizzles beyond doors of Grandparents Jeff and Julie Crandall's home, a sign of summer fading to fall. The fresh, clegtsan feeling is only fitting for a fresh, clean infant, ready for a blessing.
Fumes lingering from floors being refinished in the ward building, caused a change of location for this special event... But it took little imagination to find a fitting alternative.
Family and friends are gathered and chatting. Then crowd is hushed for the main event. Aunt Bonnie runs to find Noah, as they wantt to be sure all are present to witness this sacred event. Ryan asks Jenny to give an opening prayer. Gwen is displaced momentarily from Mom's lap. And Jenny offers a sweet prayer. Thanking Heavenly Father most importantly for the priesthood power to be able to conduct the blessing, and for Ryan's worthiness to perform it. She chokes up as she speaks of her gratitude for eternal families, and the sealing power. The prayer accomplished it's purpose, and the Spirit is tangibly present.
Gwen returns to her place on mom's lap in an effort to share in some of Jett's attention, fitting of the occasion.

We bless you to be a joy to those who know you. That you will have a cheerful and happy disposition, and be able to uplift and strength those around you - your sister and brothers, parents, friends and acquaintances.
We bless you with health and strength, that your body will be able to carry the burdens that will be placed upon it. You will have the health you need to accomplish your goals and learn what your Heavenly Father needs you to learn.
You will be blessed to receive the Priesthood, and you will gain satisfaction in serving in callings and in service to His children.
You will be a light to others. You will share the Gospel through your example, faithfulness and words. You will be a missionary to others and bring them unto Christ.
We bless you with the spiritual gifts and talents you will need throughout your life. As you serve and magnify your callings these will increase.
We also bless you with the strength to withstand the evils of this day, and to be able to keep Satan and his influences out of your life.

Even without the normal podium of a church meetinghouse, Dad still takes the opportunity to lift Jett up for all to see. The room bursts in awes at the cute little guy in a striped church shirt and adorable vest. Dark hair and features. And an extra special glow about him!
